Work on Downtown Crossing/Route 34 Project Set to Begin Next Spring
conntact.com - June 13, 2011: A bicycle lane, a two-way portion of George Street and a developed parcel that promises to reunite neighborhoods in the downtown New Haven region are among expected changes when a new undertaking of an old project is completed, according to its administrators.
With the first phase set to begin in the spring of 2012, the Downtown Crossing/Route 34 East Project will restructure the current truncated highway into an accessible boulevard between College Street and Union Avenue, as well as create city jobs, said New Haven Economic Development Administrator Kelly Murphy during a June 9 informational meeting.
